YOUR BURNING QUESTIONS... ANSWERED!

Ever heard the expression there are no stupid questions? Well we couldn't agree more!
Here at X-Citement Video/Pleasures N Treasures we have noticed that there are some re-occurring questions that we commonly get so I'm going to answer some of them for you now. I will try to answer as many as possible but as always, please feel free to call us or stop by to ask in person.

TOYS
QUESTION: Why is my vibrator/bullet/battery operated toy dying so quickly?
ANSWER: I've touched on this one before but it never hurts to address this question again because it always comes up. This one is hands down the most common question that we get here at the store and there are two main causes: using super strong brands of batteries and storing the toy with the batteries in it. It's as simple as that. Strong brands of batteries, especially Duracell and Energizer, are great for keeping your camera going and going but they are just too strong for the little motors in toys. Sometimes using these batteries can cause toys to die quicker over time, but we have had more and more toys die instantaneously when these batteries have been used. Cheaper batteries are the best for toys, so go ahead and buy that value back of Kirkland or Dollar Store batteries. Or, if you don't want to fuss with batteries at all, we do have a fairly large selections of toys which are rechargeable. As for leaving the batteries in the toy, this one is also very common. Toys are the same as all electronics, even if it isn't on the current will still be present, which will strain the motor causing it to burn which will result in you having a broken toy. Some toys will even die if you leave the batteries in just once. To be safe, the best solution is to remove the batteries between uses. If you feel that this is really too much of a hassle, rip the corner of a piece of paper and place it in the cap to prevent the batteries from making contact and completing the circuit.

QUESTION: Why is the material of my toy breaking down?
ANSWER: It just so happens that there are two main causes for this problem as well: incompatible lubricant and incorrect cleaning. There are so many different types of lubricant out there, and many brands will make different types so it can be easy to get confused. Firstly, silicone lubricant cannot be used with most toy types! Especially silicone and cyberskin toys. Honestly, we really only recommend silicone lubricant for men who are masturbating, for reasons which I will elaborate on in the next question. So if you are looking for a lubricant that is good for all types of toys and all kinds of sex go with a water based lube. Don't use baby oil, hand lotion, or anything like that. How you clean toys is also especially important. Almost every toy in our store has been opened at some point in time, and if it vibrates we will test it in front of you before you leave the store, so you really should be cleaning your toys before you even use them. Soap, even super gentle soap will leave residue on toys which will break down the material over time. This residue can also cause yeast infections, rashes, and any number of not so fun side effects that no one wants. We always recommend using toy cleaners which are safe for all toy material types and are also body safe. And please, please, please... Don't use alcohol to clean toys, that will breakdown the material for sure

QUESTION: I find that I'm really sensitive to lubricants, what can you recommend?
ANSWER: My first question back to you would be what type of lubricant are you using? Is it silicone or water based? Silicone lubricant is non-absorbable which means that it has to be washed off the skin, this property is what makes many people react to it. We always recommend water based for women because it is unsafe to douche the vagina but that's what you need to do with silicone lubricants. If you find that that you are really super sensitive we also have various different paraben and glycerin free lubricants, as well as ones that are all natural or organic.

QUESTION: I'm looking for a specific toy, can you order it in?
ANSWER: This one's a bit more complicated... If it's a toy we've carried because, we can email our head office to see if we can get it again, but no guarantees with that. Every once in a while, our head office will allow us to order from third party websites and we get to pick and choose what we want. Depending on the price, we can order in items at that time but sometimes we will require a deposit. It never hurts to ask!

DVDS
QUESTION: I'm looking for this movie, there's a brunette girl on top of a guy, can you tell me which one  that is so I can buy it?
ANSWER: Umm no, we need a bit more information than that. The best option is to search movies by the title. We can also search by actress/actor. language, year, production company, etc but these options are all extremely limited because they depend on if our head office entered that information into the file for that DVD.

QUESTION: I'm looking for a specific DVD but you guys don't have it, can you order it in?
ANSWER: If you're looking for a DVD that we've had before we can ask our head office to see if we can get it again. If it's a DVD that we haven't had then the odds are slim that we will be able to get it. That being said, you can always check out PVT section to see if it's there. That section isn't inventoried by title so who knows what's in there!

QUESTION: I have a bunch of DVDs at home that I don't want anymore, can I trade them for different ones?
ANSWER: Yes you can! Bring us any adult DVDs you have at home and you can trade them for different titles for only $5. If you bring in higher end titles, you will be able to pick from our higher end titles. That being said, we do not buy DVDs outright nor do we do direct trades, sorry!

Moral of this story is... When in doubt, ask! Trust me, we've heard it all.
I hope at least a few of you will find some of that helpful!
